Grief Hill is a contemporary story about a Civil Rights attorney who needs to confront a secret tragedy that occurred when she was sixteen. Jamie Vendler is a senior attorney in the Justice Department’s civil rights division . When she receives word that her schizophrenic cousin Stevie has died., she must decide whether to return to Grief Hill, a small community where she spent her summers as a child. But because of a terrible event that happened there, and the unresolved guilt she has carried with her, she has not been back in nearly forty years. As Jamie relives that summer in her memory, she gains the courage to face the past and go to the funeral, releasing her from the deep unhappiness that had held her back for so long.
